Yoga for Surfing

Just as effortlessly as waves come, sodoes the breath. Come deepen your connection with mind and body by exploringthe natural link that yoga and surfing share - embracing the moment andlearning to accept what is. Channeling your attention to the breath andpracticing the physical asana postures of yoga can help you to be more presentand focused during your session as well as stretch and tone key muscles usedwhile surfing.
During this two and half hour workshop we will work on opening the shouldersand hips, helping you to find more flexibility and a greater range of motionwhen paddling. Our practice will also focus on increasing endurance, strengthand balance all while calming the mind. Learn how to stretch before and afteryour surf session, breath work practices to improve concentration, and posturesto keep you strong - allowing you to stay out longer and get more waves!

Gennica Ivey is a graduate from The Mount Madonna School of Yoga in Watsonville, CA.She believes yoga is a gift and is passionate about sharing her experience through teaching others. Her hope for her students is that they are ableto come a place in which they are able to take their practice of yoga beyond the physical postures and take the steps in progressing in their own unique yogic path. In the spirit of the work of the great Baba Hari Dass, she is committed to teaching to learn and providing a compassionate environment for growth.
